Year 2004 Street Stock Rules |
1.
ELIGIBILITY
1.
Open to all American made hard top passenger cars 1965 thru current
models, body and chassis only (no front wheel drive chassis). No Camaros,
Mustangs, Firebirds, sports cars, jeeps or trucks. Body sheet metal must exactly
replace earlier sheet metal - no interchanging of frames and bodies. Bodies may
be interchanged within their own frame family(78 and up "A body" cars
i.e. Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass, Chevrolet Monte Carlo and Pontiac Grand Prix).
No interchanging between mfgs. lines. ONLY EXCEPTIONS TO ABOVE RULE WILL BE AS
FOLLOWS: Ford products may interchange bodies and frames (i.e. Fairmont body on
any full perimeter for products frame 1960 or newer). Wheelbase and tread width
must not exceed specifications of body being used. Late model fiberglas
replacement bodies may be installed over 1978 or later medium stock frame and
chassis of same manufacture. ALL INSTALLATIONS MUST BE APPROVED BY TECH
DIRECTOR. Cajon Speedway, reserves the right to refuse any body combination
which is not within the spirit of the rules.
2.
All cars must be stock for year, make and model.
3.
A minimum wheelbase of 108 inches must be within 1/2" side to side.
4.
All cars must maintain a minimum of sixty-one (61) inches and a maximum
of sixty -six (66) inches treadwidth front and rear. The measurement will be at
spindle height, zero toe-in tread center.
2.
BODY
1.
Body must he complete,. No alterations or customizing of any kind will be
permitted. Body sheetmetal may be updated thru current models but must exactly
replace earlier sheetmetal. No interchanging of manufacturers frames and bodies.
Later model bodies must be of the same wheelbase as chassis being used (i.e.; no
Chevelle bodies on Impala frames). No interchanging between manufacturers lines.
All installations must be Tech. approved. Cajon Speedway reserves the right to
refuse any body chassis combination which is not in the spirit of the rules.
Body panel no lower than frame on side.
2.
Stock front and rear bumpers will be used. No reinforcing of bumpers.
Bumper brackets may be fabricated from 1/4 inch steel plate. Rear bumpers must
have straps attaching the ends of the bumper to the stock steel quarter panel of
the body, so the bumper cannot he hooked, (1/8 inch plate is recommended).
Aluminum bumpers are allowed. Late model bumper covers must conceal a contour
steel fit bumper, ends hooped forward towards rear tire and attached into the
rear frame to prevent hooking of others.
3.
No crash or nerfing bars allowed. No exceptions.
4.
Stock windshield or minimum 1/8 inch thick lexan Windshield must cover
all of Windshield opening. Lexan rear window permitted. No other glass or window
coverings will be permitted. Windshield must be secured by four (4) tabs on the
outside and a minimum 1/8 inch by 1 inch steel strap Mounted vertically on the
inside center. Vertical (.90 wall) tubing may be attached to cage at center of
windshield. All installations subject to tech. approval.
5.
All interior upholstery must be removed.
6.
Cutting of interior, sheetmetal allowed. Front fender wells may be
removed. Gutting of hood and deck lids allowed. Stock position of firewalls
(front and rear), floor pan, except metric chassis, rocker panels must be
retained. Floor pan (right side only) may be raised 3 inches max. for exhaust
system ground clearance. Interior sheetmetal may be replaced, but must be
removable and Tech. approved.
7.
Adequate firewall must be constructed between fuel cell and driver, with
no less than 20 gauge steel, provide 3" high step behind driver seat
min.8" to the rear.
8.
Interior sheetmetal in trunk area may be removed.
9.
All doors must be welded or bolted shut.
10.
Fiberglass, will be allowed for hood, fender, and doors only. Must be
stock appearing and OEM measurments. Fiberglass roof may be put over original
steel roof or full width 22ga. steel panel.
11.
Removed of dash optional. All sharp metal under and around dash must be
removed.
12.
Hood and deck lid pins required. 2 deck lid pins may be used if hinges
are used, 4 pins required for lift off deck lids. Hoods are required to have 4
pins across the front edge and 2 on the trailing edge if no hinges are used.
Full lift off hood and fender combinations are required to have 1 pin on each
side at the lower rear of fenders.
13.
Removal of antenna, door handles, exterior mirrors, headlights,
taillights, chrome strips, and any other exterior glass is mandatory.
14.
Headlight and taillight holes must be covered and show good workmanship.
15.
Stock appearing grill must be in place or 1 inch mesh screen may be used,
subject to Tech. approval.
16.
Outer fender well may be trimmed to a maximum of 3 inches tire clearance.
All edges must be rolled and show good tire clearance.
3.
CHASSIS
1.
No alterations, customizing, or reinforcing of the chassis will be
permitted.
2.
Sway bar mounting must be stock. Metal, teflon, or plastic bushings
optional for sway bar. No helm joints will be permitted. Stock sway bar in stock
location, only.
3.
All shock prices may not exceed sixty dollars ($60.00) each retail cost.
Any shock may be claimed for sixty dollars after race meet. Gas shocks are
allowed. One shock per wheel in stock location. Shocks must use stock type
mounts.
4.
Caster and camber may be changed by normal methods only. No cutting or
welding. Solid material may be used in place of stock shims. Upper control arm
mount must appear stock and be in the stock location.
5.
No spacer plates will be added to leaf springs. You may run uneven
amounts of leaf springs from side to side. All leaf springs will be bolted
together and U-bolted to the rear end housing.
6.
Seat must be in stock location, minimum 33" back of seat, measured
6" up from seat bottom to rear axle. No peddle extensions allowed. All seat
locations must pass Tech.
7.
Any front spring (5" diameter) may be used as long as there is no
modification of the spring pocket area in the upper frame and bottom A-arms. A
spacer may be used on top of the spring. Any stock appearing rear spring may be
used. Fabricated spring buckets may be used to accommodate the length of the
rear springs. Location of rear shocks optional, racing shocks may be used.
SPECIAL APPLICATION SHOCKS MUST BE APPROVED BY TECH DIRECTOR.
8.
Upper and lower-arms and strut rods (where applicable) shall retain stock
type replacement bushings, steel type optional. Upper A-arm may be notched for
clearance. Any stock upper A-arm may be used as long as it fits the cars
original mounts with no modifications to the car or the A-arm.
9.
One weight jackers per wheel allowed. One threaded weight jacking bolt,
must be same angle as spring. Coil spring must retain original location and
angle. Frames may not be altered in any way except as noted. Rear upper and
lower control arms must not be altered. Mounting positions on chassis and rear
end may be altered must same location side to side. No adjustible pinion angle
devices allowed. No on board adjustable suspensions allowed.
10.
All cars will be 4" off the ground at the crossmember or lowest
point (pan, framerails, etc.). Minimum. 3" exhaust clearance required.
4.
TRANSMISSION & REAR END
1.
Make and model of rear end may be changed but all rear ends must retain
all features of the original stock mounting in the absolute stock manner for
chassis being used. All specifications including those for location
side-to-side, front-to-rear, and pinion angle must be stock for chassis being
used.
2.
Axle bearings and or retainers must be welded to axles.
3.
Differential spiders must be locked. No Detroit Lockers, limited slip,
Positrac, Quicktrac, or any other ratching, slipping, or equalizing device
permitted. Steel replacement mini spool OK. No alum. permitted,
4.
All driveshafts must be standard production type shaft and universals.
One piece steel driveshaft only, must be painted white.
5.
Stock clutch and flywheel only. Scattershield, blanket, or 1/4 inch steel
plate mandatory for all transmissions. After market hydraulic clutch cylinder
permitted
6.
Transmission must be stock for make and model of motor and chassis being
used, no part omitted for lighting allowed.
7.
Driveshaft hoop required no more than 12 inches from front U-joint, under
floorboard, around driveshaft.
5.
WHEELS & TIRES
1.
You will be notified by Cajon Speedway bulletin as to which tires will be
legal for your division. Any tire not approved by the tech. inspector shall be
confiscated. Any unapproved racing tire found on the premises shall result in
the car possessing that tire to be disqualified or not allowed to compete in
that nights race meet.
2.
Only heavy duty or spoke steel wheels may be used. Stock wheels must be
double centered. No aluminum or magnesium wheel shall be permitted. Maximum
wheel width will be eight (8) inches.
3.
9/16 inch or larger wheel studs mandatory on all four wheels.
4.
All wheels must be of the same diameter and back spacing. No wheel
spacers allowed. Valve stem location optional. No bleeder valves allowed.
5.
All wheel weights must be located on the inside of all wheels.
6.
No electronic traction control devices allowed.
6.
FUEL & FUEL CELL
1.
The word "fuel" as used shaft be understood to mean automotive
gasoline as defined by ASTMD-4.
2.
'The gasoline shall not be blended with alcohol's, ethers, or other
oxygenates. It shall not be blended with Aniline or its derivatives, nitro
compounds, or other nitrogen containing compounds.
3.
No icing or cooling of fuel permitted in the pits or racing area.
4.
Fuel cell must be of a top feed type and must be securely installed in
trunk compartment with 4 straps minimum 1/8 inch by 1 inch, 2 crosswise and 2
lengthwise. Cell must be mounted behind rear end. Fuel cell location will be no
lower than center of rear end housing with a non-adjustable mounting. Fuel Cell
must be enclosed in minimum 16 gauge steel box.
5.
Filler spout must be completely inside trunk compartment. Fuel cell cap
must have metal safety cable.
6.
Maximum fuel capacity of 22 gallons. Fuel line may run inside drivers
compartment if it is securely enclosed inside steel tubing sealed at both ends.
7.
STEERING & BRAKES
1.
No cutting or welding of any steering components. U-joints optional to
replace rag joints only. Solid rods with collapsible link must be used for all
steering rods.
2.
Stock four wheel brakes are required and must be in good working order.
3.
Proportioning valves are allowed. Must be located in engine compartment
and out of drivers reach.
4.
Rear disk brakes are permitted. No aluminum calipers or hats, steel only.
Hats and rotors must be one piece.
5. Stock type master brake cylinder, mounting shall
retain stock firewall location.
8.
ROLL BARS
1.
Steel roll over bars are compulsory, and must be passed by the Cajon
Speedway Tech. Inspector.
2.
Roll cage must be a four point cage that extends the width of the frame
with a minimum of three horizontal bars on the drivers side and two horizontal
bars on the passenger side out to doors. No Butt welds on door bars unless bars
are bent. No more than 20 inch spread on door upright bars. Provide on late
models, a vertical bar from top left corner of windshield to top horizontal
driver side door bar so that it does not impair drivers view or entrance/exit
from the car. Spreader bars front and back mandatory. Entire cage must be
constructed with a minimum of one and one-half (11/2) inch O.D. steel tubing
with no less than .090 wall thickness.
3.
Rear hoop must be installed in trunk, behind fuel cell, with 45 degree
kickers for cell protection.
4.
Speedway bars will be permitted,
5.
Front hoop allowed. Kickers allowed to own discretion, mounting behind
radiator and in front of forward firewall. No more than four bars will be
allowed thru firewall.
6.
A 1 3/4 inch tube or 1/2 inch by 1 inch square tubing may be mounted
behind the fuel cell between the ends of the frame rails. No flat or angle stock
will be permitted. Any replacement rear frame must be per stock location, size,
weight, configuration and must be tech. approved.
7.
A front radiator hoop may be Used with a maximum of two kickers and no
wider than the frame rails.
8.
Roll bars must be padded at any point where the driver may make contact.
9.
Rollcages must be symmetrical.
9.
WEIGHT
1.
All cars must weigh with a driver a minimum of 3200 pounds at 358 cubic
inches, minus 5 pounds per cubic inch under 358 cubic inches. See
"Engines" item 21 for added weight.
2.
No more than 55.00% of the total weight of the car with the driver shall
rest on the left wheels.
3.
All bolt on weight must be painted white, stamped with car number and
bolted securely no lower than the bottom of the frame member, subject to 'I'ech.
approval.
4.
Track scales to be the official weight.
5.
Any parts lost during the race cannot be put back on before the car is
weighed.
10.
ENGINES
1.
Engine must remain stock for make and model of chassis being used.
2.
Engine block must be a V-8 type and be of stock factory production, cast
iron only. No Bow-Tie blocks will be allowed.
3.
All engine sizes are limited to an absolute maximum of 360 cubic inches
including wear.
4.
Overbore size for all motors shall not exceed .060 inch from O.E.M.
specifications.
5.
Crankshaft must be of stock factory production, cast iron or steel,
unaltered. Balancing is permitted. Stroke may not be increased or decreased. A
minimum ground clearance of 11 inches from center line of crankshaft to ground
must be maintained at all times.
6.
Rods must be of stock factory O.E.M. production or Crower sportsman rods
#SP91205 or #SP93205. Polishing and shot peening of rods will be permitted.
7.
Flat top pistons only will be allowed. TRW # 1.2490 or #1.2327 or #
srp138081-4 only will be allowed for GM motors. No massaging. All others must be
an O.E.M. equivalent. All installations must be tech. approved. No piston
lighter than 480 grams, no pins lighter than 125 grams.
8.
Any hydraulic cam will be permitted. No solid or roller cams allowed.
9.
Lifters must be stock diameter from stock O.E.M. factory specifications.
No roller, mushroom, or solid lifters will be permitted.
10.
Stock single point ignition or stock type electronic ignition will be
used. No magnetos, dual point distributors, or after market production
distributors will be permitted.
11.
Cylinder heads must be stock factory production, unmolested. No Bow-Tie
or Dart heads will be allowed. DEFINITION and official INTERPRETATION of the
words "STOCK FACTORY PRODUCTION" ; A stock head shall be characterized
as a cylinder head which was offered as standard equipment with no performance
advantage. Any cylinder head not being standard rcplacement O.E.M. equipment
will be considered illegal. No special performance options will be allowed. No
porting or polishing will be allowed. All heads must have stock heat risers. No
match porting. Heads may be cleaned, hot tanked, or cleaned by other processes
which do not remove metal. No grinding, shot-peening, acid etching, sanding, or
heavy wire-brushing which would remove, smooth, or polish the metal.
12.
Heads may be resurfaced to an absolute minimum of 60.50 cubic
centimeters.
13.
Screw-in studs and guide plates are permitted.
14.
Valve sizes for GM small block motors will be a maximum of 1.94 inches
intake, 1.50 inches exhaust. All other motors must be Tech. approved. NO tulip
valves will be permitted. No down sizing of larger heads will be allowed. no
cutting of larger valves will be permitted. Stock replacement valves only, no
performance valves. Stainless steel replacement valves are permitted. Valves
must have seal "O" ring grooves as O.E.M. Maximum undercut at valve
head to stem for stress relief is .005" inch.
15.
Valve seat angle must be stock 3 angle O.E.M. 75 or 60 degree, 45 degree,
and 30 or 15 degree only. All angles must be centered off the valve guide. No
back-cutting or undercutting permitted.
16.
Valve springs must be of stock factory production width. stock type
equivalent are allowed.
17.
Rocker arm size for all GM small block motors will be 1.50 maximum,
stamped steel only. All other motors must use stock O.E.M. rocker arms. No
roller rockers or stud girdles will he permitted. Poly locks may be used in
place of stock rocker arm adjusting nuts.
18.
Except as described all other internal engine parts must retain O.E.M.
specifications, is to size, shape, weight and finish.
19.
Only standard O.E.M. steel elastomer-type harmaonic balancers permitted.
20.
Bolt on parts must be stock replacement parts, no after market type.
21.
Ford engines may compete with a single stage external oil company. Cars
with external compound must add 25 pounds to the total weight of the car. Oil
pans must be the sole supplier reservoir. All, a installations are subject to
approval of Cajon Speedway officials.
11.
CARBURETOR & MANIFOLD
1.
All cars must use a box stock Holley Carburetor, model #4412, 500 C.F.M.
2 barrel with no larger than a 1 and 11/16 inch throttle bore. (This is a NO
touch carburetor) The only changes permitted are jets, power valve, and removal
of choke assembly (re: Butterfly plate and linkage assembly only). No cutting of
any kind will be permitted.
2.
Maximum one (1) inch adapter plate allowed.
3.
Two (2) throttle return springs must be used, one on the carburetor, and
one on the linkage.
4.
No fuel injection, super charger, or ram of any kind will be permitted.
Stock type air cleaners, with max. 4"high paper element must be used.
5.
Intake manifold must be of an O.E.M. stock factory production cast iron
two barrel only. unmolested. No porting or polishing. Engines with no two
barrel manifold offered as O.E.M. equipment must use a two barrel
manifold from a smaller engine of the same block design. All special
installations must be Tech. approved.
12.
EXHAUST SYSTEM
1.
Factory production cast iron exhaust manifolds only will be permitted.
Un-molested. No porting or polishing. No Headers.
2.
Exhaust system will be dual exhaust that pass through separate mufflers,
with space in between and exit behind the driver. No 2 to1 crossover pipes will
be permitted.
3.
Street type mufflers, turbo mufflers, or glass packs may be used.
4.
Maximum dB level for all cars will be 90 at 100 feet and may be measured
at any time.
13.
COOLING SYSTEM
1.
One radiator only and must be mounted in original position.
2.
A one gallon overflow catch can is required, mounted inside engine
compartment
3.
Water only permitted in cooling system. No antifreeze or oil of any kind
will be permitted.
4.
All cars will have a working engine fan and shroud in stock location. No
electric fans permitted.
14.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
1.
One passenger car battery only. Battery must be located forward of the
rear firewall.
2.
If battery is located inside passenger compartment, it must be fully
enclosed in a steel box. All battery installations are subject to tech.
approval.
3.
Master battery cutoff switch required in the negative cable. Cutoff
switch must be mounted within easy reach of the driver and the safety crew and
clearly marked ON/OFF.
4.
All cars must have OEM starters in good working order and able to start
car at the beginning of each race meet.
5.
No radios are permitted in this class.
6.
No on-board computers allowed.
15.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT
1.
Drivers side window net is mandatory.
2.
Nomex type fire retardant suit is mandatory. No nylon shoes allowed. No
nylon or polyester clothing of any kind will be permitted.
3.
Fire extinguisher with charge indicator, 2 lb. minimum, mounted within
drivers reach mandatory.
4.
Aluminum seat mandatory. Racing seat must be securely attached to roll
cage, subject to Tech. approval.
5.
An approved five point seat belt with date stamp no older than three (3)
years is required. All belts must be fastened in an approved manner with a
minimum of 3/8 inch aircraft bolts. All belts must have a secondary chain or
cable hold downs incase of breakage.
6.
Helmets must meet Snell 2000 Testing standards.
7.
Eye protection, helmet, belts, & drivers suit must be worn at all
times on the racing surface.
ALL CARS MUST HAVE THE CAR NUMBER PAINTED IN WHITE,
MINIMUM OF 3 INCHES, ON THE TOP PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD.
Interpretation of Rules
On misinterpretation of a rule, the official's
interpretation shall be the official interpretation and will supersede any and
all other possible interpretations. If you are in doubt on any rule, ask an
official. The decision is to be in writing and given to the party requesting the
decision of the interpretation. Where there is no specific rule to govern the
occasion the official's decision will be final. . . IGNORANCE IS NO EXCUSE.
Any modification not covered in these rules will not be
allowed unless approved by the Cajon Speedway Chief Steward.
We intend for all cars to be competing with each other.
if you do something to your car that these rules have overlooked that we feel
gives you an advantage or edge over other competitors, YOU will be required to
change YOUR CAR.
THESE RULES WILL BE IN EFFECT THROUGH THE 2004 RACING

"The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are
designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish
minimum acceptable requirements for such events, these rules shall govern the
condition of all Cajon Speedway events, and. by participating in these events,
all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules.
No express or implied warranty of safety shall result
from publication of, or compliance with these rules and/or regulations, they are
intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee
against injury, or death to participants, spectators, or others."
Any part or equipment found during an inspection or any
other time at anytime at a NASCAR sanctioned event that does not meet applicable
NASCAR standares, must be surrendered to the NASCAR official at that time, and
will not be returned. Failing to do so will result in; a fine, and/or loss of
championship points, and/or definite or indefinite suspension from NASCAR.
