Factory Stock Rules!
2005 Barona
The word
"STOCK' will mean unaltered and as originally factory produced (O.E.M.)
and installed per year, make, and model.
1.
Eligibility
A. All American automobiles produced after 1960 provided they comply with the following rules, with these exceptions. No convertibles, jeeps, trucks, station wagons, Sports cars, or front wheel drive cars. T-Tops will be allowed if welded shut.
B.
Car must have been available in the
C. Wheelbase minimum 108 inches, ± ˝” on both sides. Must be same wheelbase on both sides.
2.
Body
A. Body must be complete and stock in appearance. Fiberglass body panels can be hung over metal body to enhance appearance only, not to reduce vehicle weight.
B. Body type must match frame type, (ford on ford, GM on GM).
C. Tubular bumpers are not allowed. All bumpers must be strapped to fenders or curved inward so as the bumper cannot be hooked. All stock bumpers must be reinforced so as to be securely fastened to the vehicle. 'Reinforced' means to attach the bumper to the chassis so that it will not be knocked off if the car is impacted.
D. All glass must be removed from body; Windshield area shall have minimum of (2) vertical straps at least 1/8" by 1", and shall have a ˝" minimum screen over entire area. (3) Vertical straps suggested.
E. All exterior trim, door handles, antennas must be removed.
F. All interior upholstery shall be removed.
G. Gutting of inner door sheet metal allowed for installation of door bars only.
H. Front fender wells ONLY can be removed, gutting of hood and rear deck lid is not allowed.
I. Firewall, floor pan and rocker panels required. No excess holes in firewall.
J. Removal of plastic dash allowed. No removal of steel structure.
K. Steering column must remain stock. No replacement race steering shafts.
L. Removal of trunk floor between frame rails only allowed for fuel cell. Minimum 4” hole mandatory.
M. All doors welded or bolted shut. Sufficient to remain closed after extreme impact.
N. Fenders may be cut a max of 3 inches for tire clearance.
O. Hood and deck pins, 2 required if hinges are used, otherwise 4 pins required.
P. Adequate metal firewall required between fuel cell and driver. No further forward than rear fender well.
Q. Fiberglass and Aluminum body panels are allowed over top of stock body panels only. All body panels must be of stock material construction.
R. Stock appearing grill or mesh installed. Plastic racing nose ok.
S. All cars must have car numbers on both doors a minimum of 18" tall and 3” tall number on left front and right rear of car. All numbers to be of contrasting color and easily legible from scoring box. Drivers returning from previous season have preference of number used last year.
T. T-top and sunroofs must be filled with minimum 14gage steel, welded shut, and approved by tech.
3.
Chassis
A. No customizing, altering, or reinforcing of chassis permitted, unless to reinforce area which has been fatigued due to damage. Repairs are to be approved by track tech, and must be authorized prior to repair.
B. No special sub frames permitted.
C. No airbags suspensions.
D. Shocks in stock locations, with no coil over springs. Stock type mounts.
E. Minimum 4" ground clearance. This is measured at the lowest point of the frame or cross member.
F. No shortening or lengthening of Wheelbase.
G. No Aftermarket, tube, or fabricated suspension components.
H. No weight jacks.
I. Stock type springs in stock location and mounting. Any spring rate allowed. No cut or modified springs allowed.
4.
Transmission and Rear End
A. Rear end must be stock type and width for chassis.
B. No floaters or quick changes.
C. All Differentials allowed. Posi-traction, locked or spool optional.
D. No aluminum rear end parts allowed.
E. No aluminum driveshaft allowed unless stock. Effective in 2006 season, all drive shafts must be painted white with a safety hoop.
F. Gear ratio optional.
G. Stock clutch and flywheel only. No hydraulic retrofits allowed.
H. Transmission must be stock for motor and chassis.
I. Automatic or standard transmission optional.
5.
Wheels and tires
A. Steel rims only, maximum width 7" (8” allowed for remainder of 2005 season ONLY). No aluminum or alloys of any kind.
B. Any rim offset / backspacing allowed as long as wheel is within outside fender edge.
C. Wheel spacers allowed with use of race wheel studs. Not to exceed 0.5 inches thick total.
D. All tires must be DOT approved. 245mm max width. Size designation must be visible on sidewall and unaltered. No studded tires. No truck tires. As of 2006 season, all tires must be no larger than 245/60.
E. No bead locks or screws of any kind.
F. Stock wheel studs allowed. 1/2" or larger wheel studs preferred.
G. No electronic traction control devices allowed.
H. No bleeder valves allowed.
I. Inner tubes allowed.
J. All wheels must remain within the outside edge of fender. Subject to tech approval.
6.
Fuel Cell and Fuel
A. Gasoline only and shall not be mixed with alcohol’s, ethers or other oxygenates. No Aniline or its derivatives, nitro compounds or nitro containing compounds.
B. Fuel cell must be top feed and securely fastened in trunk area with a minimum of (2) 1/8" x 1" straps in each direction totaling (4). Mounted so bottom of tank is above bottom of frame rail.
C. Fuel line may be run in driver’s compartment if completely enclosed in steel tubing and sealed at both ends.
D. Fuel filler neck in trunk only.
E. No after market electric fuel pumps. Factory electric fuel pumps ok with kill switch. Kill switch must be marked clearly as ON/OFF.
F. No pressurized tanks.
G. Cars with electric fuel pumps must run an “E” after car number for safety purposes.
7.
Steering and Brakes
A. Cutting or welding of steering components not allowed. U-Joints to replace rag joint OK. Solid rods must be used for all steering rods.
B. Removal of any brake not allowed. Removal of parking/mechanical brake allowed. Brakes must be in good working order.
C. Quick release steering wheel allowed with use of center foam pad.
D. No aftermarket proportioning valves or cutting brakes permitted.
E. All brakes must be O.E.M. for make and model. No slotting or cross drilling of rotors.
F. No brake cooling vents or ductwork, with exception to O.E.M. backing plates or shields.
8.
Roll Bars and Cages
A. Minimum 4-point cage required. No more than 6 points allowed, including 2 rear kickers, which must be attached to body within driver compartment. A minimum of 3 drivers’ door bars and 2 right side bars. Cage must meet tech approval.
B. Spreader bars on door bars required.
C. Cage must be minimum 1-˝" steel tubing with minimum .090 wall thickness.
D. Upright bars must be attached to floor or frame by bolted plate (minimum 3/16") or welded. Bolted pads must be secured with minimum (4) 3/8" Grade 5 bolts.
E. Tubing around and behind fuel cell permitted. Steel structure to adequately support cell mandatory if trunk floor is removed. Tubing is allowed for fuel cell support only.
F. Cage and roll bar must be padded where driver may come in contact with it.
G. Driver leg and foot protection allowed if attached to cage only.
9. Weight
A. All cars must weigh a minimum or 3200 lbs. with driver at end of race. (Tentative due to no scales at this time.)
B. All bolted weight must be approved by track Tech, painted white and have car number etched on.
10.
Engines
A. The engine must be stock for make of car, ex. Ford or Ford, GM for GM.
B. V-8 engines stock production, cast iron only. No bow tie blocks. No angle plugs.
C. Engine size stock for make and model of car. With exception to cars produced with engines less than 8 cylinders, a 350 Chevrolet, 351 Ford, or a 360 Dodge small block V8 may be substituted per matching year O.E.M. specs.
D. Overbore shall not exceed .060 from O.E.M. specs.
E. Aftermarket cams permitted, solid lifters not permitted. Roller cams are not permitted. No roller lifters.
F. Max cam lift measured at valve of .500 inches.
G. No roller tip or roller furculum rocker arms. No rocker ratio’s exceeding the O.E.M. spec.
H. No dry sump or external oil pumps allowed.
H. Stock type or HEI ignitions only. No Magnetos, dual point, or MSD box type ignition allowed.
I. Stock diameter valve springs only. No dual springs. Dampeners permitted.
J. Stock vibration/harmonic dampener only.
K. Heads may be milled or resurfaced.
L. Engine must remain in stock location. Solid motor mounts permitted.
M. No aluminum Heads or blocks allowed.
N. Stock steel flywheel only. No aluminum, cutting, or special over-the-counter types.
11.
Manifolds and Carburetors THIS RULE WILL
BE BETTER DEFINED FOR 2006 SEASON
A. One carburetor allowed only. No cutting or machining permitted.
B. A 1" adapter plate is allowed.
C. All carburetors must have 2 return springs.
D. Turbo chargers, superchargers or any forced induction not allowed.
E. No porting or polishing allowed. Aftermarket intakes not allowed.
F. Intake manifold must remain stock. No aftermarket manifolds allowed. No factory hirise. NO EXCEPTIONS.
G. Fuel injection allowed on cars grandfathered in 2005 season. No others allowed.
12.
Exhaust
A. Headers allowed for 2005 season. THIS RULE WILL BE BETTER DEFINED FOR 2006 SEASON.
B. Mufflers are required.
C. Exhaust pipe(s) must exit behind driver.
D. “Y”, “X”, and “H” pipes allowed.
13.
Cooling system
A. Only 1 radiator is allowed and must be mounted in front of engine. Type must be per make and model.
B. A 1-gallon radiator catch can is required and must be mounted inside engine compartment.
C. Water only in cooling system, No antifreeze or oil of any kind. Water wetter is allowed.
D. A fan shroud is mandatory.
E. No electric fans allowed. Flex or Aftermarket engine driven fans permitted.
F. Air scoop under radiator allowed. Air scoop must not exceed width of radiator and must not extend in front more than 3".
14.
Electrical system
A. One passenger car battery of 12 volts only. If mounted in driver’s compartment must be fully enclosed in box sufficient to control acid spillage. This is subject to tech approval.
B. All cars must have onboard starter and must be able to start before each race.
15.
Safety Equipment
A. A driver’s side window net is mandatory. Release must be in front at the top of the window and workable from outside the car.
B. Neck brace (horse collar) required.
C. Flame retardant driver’s suit is mandatory. No Nylon shoes or polyester clothing of any kind permitted. Race shoes and gloves are optional but highly recommended.
D. A fire extinguisher with a charge indicator (min. 2 lb) must be mounted with quick release and within driver's reach. Gage must read green/charged.
E. Racing seat securely mounted and attached to roll cage required. Subject to Tech approval.
F. Race approved 5point harness required with date stamped no more than 3 years old. Belts must be fastened with no less than 3/8 inch high quality bolts, and must be bolted to roll cage.
G. Helmet must be Snell 2000 approved.
H. Eye protection, helmets, harness and drivers suit must be worn at all time when you are on the driving surface.
INTERPRETATION OF THE RULES.
The official interpretation of the rules is the Track Tech's interpretation. If in doubt ask! Where there is no specific rule to govern the official's decision is final. Ignorance is no excuse. Any modification not covered by these rules will not be allowed unless they are deemed to comply with these rules. We intend for all cars to compete with each other. If you do something to your car that we feel give you an unfair advantage over other competitors, YOU will be required to change your car. Cars not meeting these rules may be allowed to race but will not be allowed to place, this is up to the discretion of the official. These rules are set forth to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events. All participants are expected to comply. Fighting between drivers or team members will not be permitted and suspension of races will result. Any driver may do protests of any car to an Official or division representative. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication or compliance with these rules and or regulations. They are intended as a guide for conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants or spectators or others. Official may amend these rules at any time. Changes may be made for safety or to keep the competition close.
